Pomegranate Oil for Hair Growth and Care

Pomegranate oil is one of those that isn’t only great for skincare, but for haircare as well. You see, pomegranate oil is a great source of antioxidants, vitamins (C and E), and all the good stuff. But aside from that, when focusing on pomegranate oil for hair growth, this oil is rich in reparative and anti-inflammatory properties which when applied directly on the scalp, soothes, heals, and stimulates the production of new follicles.

Using Pomegranate Oil for Hair Growth and Care

There are numerous ways you can use pomegranate oil for hair growth and all-around care. Of course, the easiest way is to use it on its own—straight from the bottle directly to your scalp and strands.

Aside from that, you can also make your very own hair mask, too.

Make Your Own Mask

When using pomegranate oil for hair, of course, using it as is will definitely yield some great benefits. But you can also mix things up a bit and create your own hair mask as well. Here is a simple recipe that will leave your hair soft, healthy, and shiny.

What You Need:

  • 2 Tablespoon Coconut Oil
  • 2 Tablespoon Jojoba Oil
  • 5 Drops Pomegranate Oil
  • (adjust amount based on length of hair)

What To Do:

It really is simple, all you have to do is mix everything together in a clean bowl and you are done. Now, coconut oil does have a tendency to harden in colder areas. So if you find that your coconut oil has solidified, it’s perfectly normal. All you have to do is pop it in the microwave for a couple of second and it will melt like butter.

How To Apply

Once you’ve made your very own hair mask, it is just a matter of applying it. Gently massage your hair mask onto your scalp and then work your way from root to tip. Make sure to get all of your strands covered. You can leave this mask on for a good 30 minutes or so (if you go over, it’s not a problem. But don’t try to go any less as we want your hair to really soak up the good stuff). And then you simply wash your hair as you normally would with shampoo and conditioner.

Do this at least every other week.

As a Hot Oil Treatment

You can also use pomegranate oil as a hot oil treatment as well by simply mixing it with coconut oil. Of course, how much you use really depends on the length of your hair. So here is the ratio for you:

1:4, 1 part pomegranate oil is to 4 parts coconut oil.

Once you have the mixture ready, you can heat it up wither in a pan over the stove or just simply pop it into the microwave.

Then, once it is warm (Warm, not hot) apply it only your scalp, massage gently, then run it through from root to tip.

Wrap it up in a shower cap and let it sit for at least 30 minutes.

Once that’s done, jump in the shower and shampoo and condition as you normally would.

A Few Drops Go A Long Way

If you want to give your shampoo a boost, you can go ahead and a drop or two of pomegranate oil to your shampoo as well before applying it on your hair.

The rest is pretty much the same. Wet your hair, massage the shampoo onto your scalp down, to your roots, to your tips. And then rinse off as you normally would. Follow up with your conditioner.
