Aside from old father time, there are other factors that affect just how fast or how slow you age. And unlike father time, these are actually things that you can take control of.
Sure, there is no changing how old you really are, however, you can change how old (or how young) you look, think, and feel.
After all, they do say that age is nothing but a number- but then again, that is only if you do something about it.
In this case, don’t do would be more appropriate. Here are a couple of everyday (or every night) habits and whatnot that actually speed up the clock.
Read on and find out (aside from a bad diet, lack of exercise, stress, drugs, and other things that are given "agers", so to speak) what shocking things you probably do that you had no idea age you.
SLEEP- LACK OF, TOO MUCH, AND EVEN HOW YOU DO IT
Okay, so lack of sleep is probably a no brainer. Just about everyone knows that all of those all nighters are bound to catch up with you eventually.
But you are probably surprised to find out that oversleep, and even more shocking, the position you catch some zs in can also add on the years or do just the opposite by making your lifespan shorter.
Studies have shown that people who get more than 8 hours of sleep a day live much shorter than those who get the recommended 6-8.
As for how you sleep, have you ever noticed those little lines you get on your face from sleeping? If you sleep on the same side, those little lines will eventually turn into fine ones- aka wrinkles. So try to switch from side to side every night or better yet, sleep on your back instead.
TIP: Trade in your cotton pillowcases for smooth silk or satin ones. There will be less compression and more moisture left on your face.

DRINKING (ASIDE FROM TOO MUCH ALCOHOL AND COFFEE), BUT FROM BOTTLES AND STRAWS
Again, too much caffeine and alcohol is a big anti aging no-no, but in moderation, they can actually help you in your quest to stay “forever young”. Coffee does more than just give you the boost you need to get up in the mornings. Because of it’s vaso-constructive and antioxidant properties, it is actually good for your skin.
While drinking red wine or even having the occasional girl’s night (note OCCASIONAL)
is good for your heart, can lower cholesterol as well as the possibility of diabetes and even dementia.
TIP: Limit yourself to 4 cups of coffee a day and, if you must, just a glass or two of alcohol at night to unwind. But if it is one of those nights, have some water in between drinks. Not only will it keep your skin hydrated, but it will also save you from a nasty hangover in the morning.
Now, you probably never would have guessed that despite what you are drinking, even if it is just water, avoid bottles and straws. In a way, it has the same effects as lighting up a cigarette. Of course, not the nicotine part. You see, when you drink form a sports bottle or straw, you are actually pursing your lips just as you would puffing away on a cig. Yes, that also adds up to wrinkles around the mouth.
- Drink from a glass as much as possible.

TOO MUCH SUGAR ISN’T ALL THAT SWEET
Just because you work out and don’t have a muffin top does not mean that you can snack down on sweets. There is a bigger downside to having too much sugar than just adding on extra pounds- how about much more of those unwanted wrinkles?
It is probably just as bad as walking around without sunscreen , Marlboro in hand.
To explain, a little process called glycation takes place whenever blood sugar levels are up. This glycation process does some pretty bad damage to the collagen in your skin. So although your taste buds may be getting a treat, for your skin, it isn’t sweet at all. Damaged collagen means sagging wrinkled skin.
TIP: I’m not saying that you have to ignore your sweet tooth completely. Moderation is always the key. But if you want something that is actually good for you- when it comes to chocolate, the darker the better. Dark chocolate is good for your brain, it’s good for your heart, it is packed with antioxidants- so it is good for your skin too.
