The older you get, the wiser you should be- even when it comes to what you wear. Since 40s is the time for a rather major change in your closet, you should be much more comfortable in your 50s and instead of just merely trying to run away from your age, embrace it, but do it ever so gracefully.
So check out these fashion over 50 top three tips.

A good hand bag is always a great investment piece.[/caption]
By the time you hit 50, you should have a 70:30 ratio in your closet- 70% investment pieces (These are the classics that never really do go out of style. Sure, they may cost more, but remember, when you’re 50, the rule of quality over quantity definitely applies) and 30% should be those trendy pieces that you like.
At this age, you should no longer be fixated on the fashion flavor of the month. Neon spiked 5 inch heels really won’t do you any good. As they say “Trendy is no longer attractive”, but that doesn’t mean that your love for style has to end. Stick to classic comfortable pieces that you are confident in, then you can spice it up by adding just a bit of “what’s hot” to your look, like carrying the latest handbag. Let one or two key fashion trends be your focus instead of going all out.
Cuts Over Colors
You can still have fun with fashion in your 50s, but instead of playing around with colors, choose interesting cuts. Yes, it is time to bid adieu to that bold and bright hot pink dress (especially if it is a micro mini, heck, that should have been gone years ago). Choose classic toned down shades ( navy blue, earth tones, you can never go wrong with black or white) as your base. Then you can go ahead and add a dash of just about any color you want- a red belt, a mustard scarf. But most importantly, choose colors that fit you well (ones that bring out your eyes or brighten up your complexion). Just like makeup , not all shades will look good.
That pretty much covers colors, so let’s move on to cuts. Intricate cuts definitely keep things interesting- A ruffled top, a laced trim, a pleats, or gathered waists. At 50, you can go ahead and wear whatever style of pants you want- from skinny to wide legged, whatever suits you best. But still, steer clear from those unflattering so called “mom” jeans.

The Devil Is In The Detail
This where you can really bring out that chic and elegant fashion sense that you’ve had years to perfect. Even with classic pieces, a true blue fahionista will know how to put a personal spin on the look. Like wearing an ordinary black button down but adding your favorite scarf tie to the mix. Not that sure on what to? Remember, you can never go wrong with find prints and bold jewelry.
You can be gorgeous at 20, charming at 40 and irresistible for the rest of your life.
