Face Serum: What It’s For And How To Use It

face serumWhen it comes to your basic anti aging skin care routine, here are the top three steps that you should do daily: (But of course, protection goes without say. Sunscreen is definitely number one!)
  • Cleansing

  • Toning

  • Moisturizing

But if you really want to keep the wrinkles at bay, you have to keep dry skin away. Sometimes moisturizer just isn’t enough, especially when dealing with dry or damaged skin. The good news is that just one more simple step can make all the difference.

I’m talking about adding a good face serum to the mix.

You see, because serums are much more concentrated but at the same time much thinner than your other skin care products too, it can penetrate deep into the layers of your skin that your typical moisturizer can’t reach. With a wide array of serums to choose from, it is only natural that face serums can treat a wide array of problems too- anything from acne to dryness to discoloration to premature aging.

Well, there is no denying that things can get a bit complicated when caring for your skin- which product to use after what, when to use it, and how often- yadda yadda yadda. Well when it comes to adding a good face serum to your basic three, just follow these simple steps. Cleansing first. You always want to start with clean skin. Pat dry and move on to step number two. Toner is next. But unlike the first step, you want to move on the third while your skin is still damp. Right after you apply your toner, follow up with your serum. No rush next. Wait a while, maybe a good five minutes or so, for your skin to really absorb the serum before finishing up with your moisturizer.

How To Apply Face Serum

When dealing with serum, use 4-5 drops.  Place on your palm and rub together.  Not too much though. You just want to spread it evenly on your palms so that you can apply the serum on your face. You don’t really want to rub it in, just simply pat it on. But take your time doing so.  So every time you palm “pats” you face, let it rest there for a couple of seconds (about 3-5) before moving on to the next area. Do this all over your face and neck area.
