(She looks ten years younger than she really is, easy!) So, what are her secrets to staying slim and staying young? Read on to find out. Catch some great healthy advice from the Catching Fire star herself.

Elizabeth Banks On Staying Slim

"People ask me how I stay thin, and I'm like 'When you go to the grocery store, buy more bananas than cookies,'"

But don’t think that Banks has banned sweets altogether…

“The freezer is where my Girl Scout cookies are,"

As she believes by storing them in a place she wouldn’t normally looks, she might just forget about them and save herself those cookie calories. [caption id="attachment_3284" align="aligncenter" width="1024"]Celebrity Beauty Secrets: Elizabeth Banks Elizabeth Banks kisses gluten goodbye![/caption]

Goodbye, Gluten…

But the real secret is in her diet. Elizabeth banks has said goodbye to gluten and has gone “all white”.

"It's essentially a gluten-free diet: no rice, no bread, no pasta," Banks said. "I'll eat tons of protein and veggies. Also, I just drink water and tea ... and alcohol."

So why go gluten free? This diet was originally formed for people who suffer from Celiac Disease, an autoimmune digestive disease where victims must avoid foods containing gluten. However, just like any other diet, this food free fad has become popular even among those who do not have the said ailment. So again, why go gluten free? Here are some of the believed benefits that you can gain from ditching grain.
  • Better digestion
  • Detox/cleanse
  • Better mood
  • Clearer thinking
  • Clearer skin
  • More energy
  • Weight loss
But much more than what you can or cannot eat, Elizabeth Banks knows that how much you eat is just as important, if not even more…

"Portion control is a real problem," Banks said. "My husband and I always split one appetizer and one entree. I'm sure waiters hate us."

Moving On To Keeping Moving…

"I have two boys; they're going to be physical. If I want to go skiing with them when they're teenagers, I have to stay fit."

Elizabeth apparently spends over an hour with her trainer a couple days a week doing cardio, weight training, and plyometrics. And on the other days she likes to go on hikes, do laps in a pool, play tennis, go for walks, or even just do some yoga. More than just staying fit, she also tries to keep in touch with that adventurous side of hers at the same time. A great example would be when she went on vacation with her family where they had all decided to go tubing behind a sailboat.

"I was like, 'I'm way too old to be doing this!' but I thought, I don't want my kids thinking their mother wouldn't get out on a tube." How did it go? "Well, I nearly died. I did a full cartwheel in the air as I went into the water. But it was totally fun and worth it."

Remember, being young at heart reflects on how young you physically look as well.
